TemplateModel

Suture template model of the EP1821 plaque. Models of the wire frame suture templates can be used to 3D prototype the templates and/or to approximate a template's surface area for cytotoxicity analysis.

To use the template conversion tool, first smooth the concave face of slotted plaques by deleting all source slots. For plaques with rounded and/or beveled edges, if the suture template will be thinner than the original plaque, the outer perimeter of the resulting template might no longer precisely match the perimeter of the originally thicker plaque model. You may need to manually adjust the rounded edge radii and/or spoke length parameters of the resulting template model in order to precisely match the original plaque’s outer perimeter. Use the cross sectional plot here in the Lip Editor and image overlays in the Plaque Window as guides to help match the original perimeter.

Lip Node # group

  • Lip node # - the current context of the lip editor.
  • - Change editor context to the previous node (cw).
  • - Change editor context to the next node (ccw).
  • Highlight in shell editor - highlight this node in renderings.
  • Has eyelet - check to attach an eyelet to this node.
  • Notch: Mark as center - marks the selected node as a notch center, enables notch balancing, and initializes the notch centering tool.
  • Notch: Group member - marks this node as being part of a notch group structure.

  • Stepper Increment - select increment of stepper controls. Stepper increments of 1.0, 0.1, 0.01, 0.001 or 0.0001 (mm or degrees) can be set using the stepper increment menus.StepperIncrMenu
  • Spoke length - the radial distance perpendicular to the central axis of the plaque.
  • Spoke angle - angle is specified in degrees counter clockwise from "12 o'clock".
  • Edge normal angle - .
  • Round edge radius - .
  • Edge bevel angle - .
  • Central hole radius - The default is 0.
  • Hole edge radius - The default is 0.
  • Face seam angle - .
  • Spoke bow angle - The default is 0.
  • Start bowing beyond - The default is 0.
  • Spoke offset angle - The default is 0.
  • Lip camber - The default is 0.
  • Lip height - Enables customization of the lip height of COMS style plaque shells. Enter a value <= 0 for automatic lip height calculation. The default is 0.
  • Selected buttons - changes to the associated parameter will be propagated to any lip control nodes currently selected in the Shell Editor window. These buttons will be dimmed if there are no currently selected nodes.
  • All buttons - changes to the associated parameter will be propagated to all lip control nodes.

  • Wire-frame - Template style.
  • Solid surface - Template style.
  • Central hole - Template style.
  • Rim width - .
  • Thickness - .
  • Hole width - .
  • Delete All Slots - .
  • Make Template - carves out the center of the plaque by adjusting the central hole radius of each lip spoke to the specified rim width inset from the perimeter (spoke length parameter). This creates an approximate model of the wire frame suture templates which can be used for 3D printing and/or to estimate the template's surface area for cytotoxicity analysis.
