This is essentially the standard Macintosh File menu.

Plaque Simulator's file types and their respective icons are listed here.

File Menu
  • New patient - reinitalizes the program for a new patient and offers to create a folder for the new patient.
  • Find Patient... - Presents a dialog listing patients found in the default patients folder.
  • Recent Patients - a hierarchal menu of recent patients for quick access. You can modify the behavior of this menu in Preferences.
  • Open File... - open a file. The file type to open is selected from a pop-up menu in the MacOS navigation services dialog. The default file type to open is selected by Plaque Simulator according to which window is currently frontmost.
  • Hide Window - hides the frontmost window.
  • Save - overwrites an existing file associated with the frontmost window. Due to the large variety of file types that can be created by Plaque Simulator it is recommended that you use Save AsÉ instead of Save if you are not absolutely certain of what will be saved.
  • Save as... - saves a file using MacOS navigation services. The default file type setting is selected according to the frontmost window. Use the pop-up menu as illustrated below to select a different file type if necessary. A common use for this service is to save a new file, or a copy under a new name.
  • Page setup - select a printer and set printer parameters.
  • Print - prints only the document currently displayed in the Documents preview window.
  • Print Group - prints the group of documents defined in the Documents preferences dialog.
  • Quit - This item appears only in MacOS 9. In MacOSX the quit function is under the Plaque Simulator menu. It offers the user the opportunity to update data files and then quits the program and returns to Macintosh finder.
