SUGGESTED PROCEDURES
- Create a session where you outline and tint only the areas with suspicious densities. After you have completed the density assessment on all the images in one batch, create another session with a different name where you outline the entire breast only or all the images in the batch. Using Excel you can divide the tinted pixels of the suspicious areas found in the first session by the pixels of the entire breast found in second session. This will give you the percentage of the breast with densities.
- When you want to compare the images from the same patient taken at different times, often the techniques are different. The breast can be imaged so that more or less of the breast is seen on the different films. If you are comparing percentage of the breast with a density on the same patient you need to have the same size of the breast seen on the two films. If you read in the two films as "IMAGE 1" and "IMAGE 2" you can then create an ROI for the entire breast for "IMAGE 1". Use the Edit copy to copy the ROI. Change to "IMAGE 2" and paste the ROI to Image 2. You can then drag the ROI to now cover the new breast image. If you now update the session the number of pixels for both the breast images will be saved.
